most ppl now-a-day have really bad taste in music. here is some good Christian music that no one heard of----check it out

1) My Epic - cool 3 piece band that have really interesting lyrics and melody. somewhat experimental, but really easy to get into.

2) Called to Arms - band is heavier than the previous one. Their latest release is a concept album based on C.S. Lewis's Screwtape Letters.

3) Zao - metalcore band started nearly 15 years ago. really heavy music. very influential Christian band. their name means alive in greek.

4) Living Sacrifice - Christian thrash metal band from Arkansas. sound like P.O.D.

5) Tourniquet - A Christian thrash / heavy metal band that was formed in 1989 in, Los Angeles, CA. They are known to incorporate thrash, neo-classical and progressive metal into their music.

6) Neutral Milk Hotel - technically not a Christian band, but their album "in an aeroplane over the sea" was inspired by Anne Frank (look her up if you dont know who she is). this indie band has touching lyrics and soft acoustic music. will melt your heart

dima, jars of clay is a solid band, but they are just another band who plays alternative music. what they are doing has already been done before, in many cases even better. you just hype up joc in your mind because they r christian, and because their music doesnt challange you. its not art if it doesnt desturd or challenge. ---- if music was controlled by bands like joc it would become bland and boring. Thank God for bands who dont conform to the norms, and push music to new boundaries. --------------would u still like joc if they weren't christian???? bands like them are dime a dozen.

its a real shame dima that you judge bands just by their religious convictions. thats not right for a person who claims to be a musician and open to new music. If a band sings about something in your comfort zone, about something that doesn't force you to get out of the little box you put yourself into, you would listen to them and claim that they are geniuses.--- BUT if a band makes you uncomfortable because their music is to experimental or their lyrics challenge you to dig deep in your soul, then you dismiss them as obsolete and satanic, even thought in most cases their lyrics are deeper then the christian bands'. ------but thats just my humble opinion, music is subjective, but i believe if you truly love music and listen with your soul you would come to the same opinion as I.

ur right, i do discriminate against some bands just because of their religion and just because of their lack of character. To me music is more than a melody, although that is also very important. What I look for is a band is a 1. positive message (i.e. Christian, all the weird philosophy bands get filtered out), 2. Strong character of musicians (i.e. Eminem gets filtered out), 3. Beautiful, unique melody (half the Christian bands get filtered), 4. Deep lyrics.

I think it's a fair evaluation routine, and I think each person has a right to his own evaluation routine, I think mine is the best though.

As for JOC not being challenging, I disagree, about 1/3 of their songs are challenging and that's why few people like them, even Christians.

music is more then about melody for sure----- i remember dima, i was where u are now. i used to believe like u do. But, with age comes wisdom. as u explore more music and grow in body and spirit, u will gain more common sense and life experience. and eventually u will understand that uncle gene was right. OR u can take another path and become a musical dim wit with backward ideas about music, and become a typical middle aged russian, with mediocre taste in everything.----by the way things are unfolding now- looks like u prefer the latter.

PLUS considering how much music i listen to, and how little u do. u are in no position to argue, i am automatically victorious. cheers

Though you probably know them already - Tedashii & Lecrae (Rap) are amazing, some of my favs by them:

Theocracy (Power metal) is also really good... their lyrics are very deep

Golden Resurrection also has a few good songs (Power metal)

And not sure if you heard Sent by Ravens (Rock?) but they also seem pretty good

Also skillet got a new album
